7/18/2013 - Road Trip

It is 4:00 p.m. here outside of Sumner, Missouri and the temperature is 98.4 and due to the 40 per cent humidity it feels like 105 degrees.

We knew it was going to be another hot day and did not want to hide out in the motor home all day so we took Precious with us a took a road trip.

We started out with a stop at Mc Donald's in Brookfield and headed east on highway 36.  We dipped south to go look at Thomas Hill Conservation Area.  CLICK HERE   Here are a couple of pictures.

This is a really good looking lake.  Of course Precious had to have a potty break.

Yes she has her Thunder Shirt on.  It really helps her to stay calm when we have to leave her in the car are there are any other stressful things.

Our next stop was Long Branch Lake just outside of Macon, Missouri.  CLICK HERE  This also is a very large lake and has lots of places to fish or play.  This is a Corps of Engineers Park and has a pretty nice Visitors Center.

Snapping Turtle

This was a very large crappie.  There were two very nice size bass in there also but I could not get a good picture of them.  Every time I would try, they would turn and come straight at me.  lol

Those were some pictures of the lake.

Our next stop of Kirksville, Missouri.  We had never been there so we went.  As we left we at at Diner 54.  It had a very large menu.  Linda ate breakfast for lunch and I had chicken strips.  Both were very good.  The restaurant was very clean and the staff was very friendly.  If in the area again, we would stop there.

On our trip we drove through many small towns and found this church in one of them.  It looked like it use to be very beautiful and was a shame that it is long unused.

We were gone about six hours and had a wonderful day.
