8-24-2013 - Home for the winter

We left Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge on Sunday, August 16 and made it as far as Iola, Kansas.  The next day we made it to Thackerville, Oklahoma.  Then on Tuesday night we spent the night in Kerrville, Texas.  The next morning we had our roof checked out and all was good.  Then we got Precious her yearly checkup and shots. Wednesday afternoon we stopped outside of Tilden, Texas where our friends Butch and Blondie were gate guards for an oil well.

We left Thursday morning and pulled into our spot at Canyon Lake RV Resort around 1:30 p.m.  CLICKY

Each day I get a little more done as far as setting up for the next seven months.  Yesterday evening I got the awning put out and staked down.  Today I put the shade screen on it and staked that down plus I got the gas grill out and hooked up ready to cook.

We went to breakfast this morning with our friends and next door neighbors Don and Karen.  We went to one of my favorite restaurants Taco Ole.

Yesterday we had lunch at one of our favorite BBQ places Rudy's.  They have some of the most juicy, favorable, and tender brisket I have ever eaten.

I plan on  getting a smoker this year and hope to learn to make Texas style brisket.

It feels like we are at home.  There are not very many people here presently but they will come starting the middle of October through the middle of January.  We are called "Winter Texans".

Another CLICKY

That's it for this time.
